Why is lead based paint still around today?
In 1978, the Federal government banned the use of lead based paint. However, this restriction was confined to the sale of lead based paint. Many homes and buildings which contained the paint were not instructed to remove the paint.
Florida defers to the Federal regulation, regarding the removal of lead based paint. If your home was built pre-1978, it is a good idea to get paint tested before remodeling and renovation projects.
